The CBI Special Court at Nampally on Friday rejected the two-day Escort Bail Petition filed by Gali Janardhana Reddy, seeking permission to participate in his mother’s death anniversary and related charity programmes in Bellary on December 31 and January 1.

In a counter petition filed on Friday, the CBI opposed the petition saying the programme in Bellary is aimed at intimidating the witnesses.  The CBI prosecutor pointed out that Reddy’s supporters arranged a large number of huge cut-outs and hundreds of vehicles in Bellary even before the designated court granting him bail.

CBI counsel also appealed to the court that special permission could be give to Reddy to offer prayers to the portrait of his mother at the jail itself but could not be sent to Bellary.  Reddy being the younger son need not be present at the ceremony. It nailed the argument saying that Gali is in possession of several fake passports and could vanish out of the country in no time.

Hearing both sides, the trial court rejected the bail of the principal accused in the OMC fraud case amid speculations that Gali might file a house petition in the AP High Court urging the court to allow him to participate in a sacred obligation as a son.

It may be mentioned here that close follower and former minister Sriramulu who had won the Bellary rural assembly seat as an independent had also declared that he would take a decision on forming a new political party after the release of Gali on bail. Political observers  feel that Gali had filed a fresh bail petition in the court on the pretext of attending his mother death anniversary only to utilise the occasion to show case his political clout.
