AC visits rain affected arecanut plantations

Madikeri assistant commissioner M R Ravi and horticulture department officials visited arecanut plantations, which have been damaged due to heavy rains under Sampaje, Chembu and Peraje gram panchayat limits.

Excessive rains had caused fruit rot disease in arecanut plantation.

As many as 1,281 farmers had sought compensation for the loss. The AC said the arecanut is affected with yellow leaf disease as well.
