Remembering Vishnu

Mysore, Dec 30, DHNS:

Death anniversary

Fans of actor Vishnuvardhan observed the second death anniversary of the actor in various parts of the city on Friday.

Pathi Foundation of corporator M D Partasarathi had organised a musical nite at N Madhava Rao Circle, popular as Agrahara Circle, marking a musical tribute to the actor.

Hit numbers of the actor were sung to the gathering of his fans, besides connoisseurs of music. ‘Nanagagiye e andavu...’ from ‘Sahodarara Saval’, ‘Thuthu Anna Thinnoke...’ from ‘Jimmigallu’ were rendered not once but twice on demand. Partasarathi, himself a fan of Vishnuvardhan, slipped into the shoes of a singer rendering ‘Thuttu anna...’

Earlier, an orchestra party belted out hit numbers one after the other, starting from ‘Karnatakada Itihasadalli...’ taking the gathering on a musical tour.

The good old buildings in the circle had worn a bright look for being illuminated for the musical evening.

Most of the auto stands in the city were decorated for the occasion with buntings and portraits of the actor. Some had even erected arches, besides putting cut-outs of the actor. Soothing songs, exclusively from Vishnu’s films were also played.

Going a step ahead, a group of autorickshaw drivers at Andani Circle in Vidyaranyapuram also distributed food to passersby.

It was on this day, two years ago, Vishnuvardhan had suffered a cardiac arrest at his hotel room in the city.
