Major fire in Chandigarh multiplex, no casualty
A major fire broke out in the food court area of the Fun Republic multiplex in Chandigarh’s Mani Majra area Saturday afternoon.
Fire services officials said five tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. No casualty was reported.
“The fire has been controlled after efforts by fire brigade personnel. The cause of the fire is still not known,” an official of the Chandigarh fire service told IANS.
The fire was noticed while movie shows were on in four multiplex theatres of Fun Republic. The theatres and the food court are on the top floor of the multiplex building.
“Since it is a weekend and the last day of the year, the rush of people today was more. The people were evacuated from the theatres and the lower floors of the mall,” the official said.
