Advani terms Manmohan lame duck Prime Minister
Bharatiya Janata Party veteran L K Advani attacked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and accused the later of choosing “conspiratorial silence and acquiescence” during the fiasco over the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha late at night on Thursday.
He said that the way the UPA Government ran away from voting on the Lokpal Bill in the Rajya Sabha ‘rendered’ Singh a “lame duck Prime Minister.”
In a New Year message to people on Saturday, the BJP Parliamentary Party chief said that 2011 was an annus horribilis (horrible year) for the Congress-led UPA Government.
“The Congress-led government found itself in the quagmire of one corruption scandal after another, each of which robbed it of its legitimacy to rule,” he said.
“The fraud on democracy, which the nation witnessed on the night of December 29, was unprecedented. At a time when India expected honest transparent leadership from the Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh chose conspiratorial silence and acquiescence,” alleged Advani.
The BJP leader said that he had never seen a government invite such ignominy upon itself because of the “virtual evaporation of responsibility” on the part of the Prime Minister.
