Toyota Kirloskar Motor sales jump 82 pc in 2011

New Delhi, Jan 1 (PTI)

Toyota Kirloskar Motor today said its sales surged by 82 per cent year-on-year in the 2011 calendar year to 1,36,150 units.

The auto-maker witnessed sales of 15,948 units in December, 2011, alone, far higher than the 6,362 units sold in the same period a year ago.

"TKM registered an annual growth of 82 per cent in the year 2011. The company sold 1,36,150 units, as compared to 74,762 units in the previous year," it said in a statement.

According to the company, its Etios model led yearly sales volumes, with 43,313 units of the Etios sedan and 20,262 units of the Etios Liva small car sold.

The Innova, Fortuner and Corolla Altis models saw sales of 51,930 units, 10,946 units and 9,283 units, respectively, it added.

TKM Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) Sandeep Singh said the past year has seen good sales despite challenging market conditions and the unforeseen and unfortunate occurrence of a tsunami in Japan and floods in Thailand.

"The coming year is of vital importance as we get to witness and contribute to the growing Indian auto industry... We have a new array of vehicles lined up for the year 2012," Singh noted.

The company said it would showcase the new face of Toyota with a new Innova, new Fortuner, new LC 200, new Prius and new Camry, among others, at the Delhi Auto Expo this year.
