And, the Sunday saved it all
SUNDAY SPECIAL
After partying all night, Sunday was a great relief
As the last day of the past year gave way to the dawn of January 1, party animals in Delhi welcomed the New Year with enthusiasm. And why not? January 1 was a Sunday this year! Metrolife checks out the youngsters are faring post New Year revelries.
Though most of them managed to party, they also got sufficient time to rest the next day. Vimal Negi, a college student, says, “I partied with friends in Chelms Ford Club till late and woke up late the next day but managed to visit temple with my family and prayed for a great start.”
Deepak Khurana also managed to visit Gurudwara Bangla Sahib with his family. A student of Maharaja Surajmal Institute, Deepak says, “I partied till late with my friends on December 31 at my building’s terrace and next day woke up in the afternoon to pay visit to the gurudwara with my family as it was my birthday. Though we visit gurudwara every year but being a Sunday this year, I really enjoyed the entire day of January 1.”
The thought of a lazy Sunday also eased Deepak Malik, a professional photographer. Deepak says, “I celebrated my friend’s birthday on December 31 and all of us were drunk so I did not plan anything much for the next day. Since it was a Sunday, I spent time with my family.”
Also, an off from college (because of Sunday) was a respite for many like Prakash Joshi too, who enjoyed the evening with his girlfriend. Prakash says, “I partied with my girlfriend on New Year’s Eve and January 1 being a Sunday this year, there was no need to hurry up for college the next day. So, I woke up really late and then wished everyone on Facebook!”
Rohan Sharma, partied all night with his friends and could not have braved the hangover the next day if it wasn’t for a Sunday. A dizzy Rohan says, “I woke up in the evening on January 1 and it was all the more fun to party the previous night because there was no need to get up early the next day.”
