Accused absconding for 19 years arrested
Absconding Najeeb Ahmed alias Mohammed Sikander Ali, an accused wanted in connection with the killing of a police officer 19 years ago, was arrested by the city police here today.
Najeeb was allegedly involved in the gruesome killing of G Krishna Prasad, Additional Superintendent of Police, (Intelligence) here on November 11, 1992, a senior police officer said.
After the incident, Najeeb Ahmed was absconding and evading his arrest by changing his residence and stayed even in West Bengal for an year, J Satyanarayana, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective Department) said.
He did not even attend the funeral of his daughter Farheen, he said adding that later he came to Hyderabad and started working as a travel agent.
A special team led by A Srinivas Reddy, Assistant Commissioner of Police, nabbed Nazeeb at his temporary residence at Bandlaguda in Chandrayangutta locality, police said.
