Stay focussed on your aspiration: Sunil Agarwal
Coaching classes for aspirants of competitive examinations launched at KSOU
Stating that hard work cannot be substituted by anything else, Commissioner of Police Sunil Agarwal said turning dreams and aspirations into reality requires determination and single-minded focus on the objective.
He was speaking after inaugurating training classes for competitive exams at the dedicated Centre at Karnataka State Open University here on Monday.
One must also be open to newer ideas and experiments to turn things in their favour, he said.
Quoting self as an example, Sunil Agarwal said though he was a student of prestigious Sri Ram School of Commerce in Delhi, and was a top scorer in Economics, he had to take Public Administration as one of the subjects and combine it with Commerce to excel in civil service exams.
Recollecting an incident involving his teacher, Sunil Agarwal said words of ‘caution’ by his teacher set him on the path to success.
“One of my teachers who taught us in class 12th said whatever we did now would decide the next 40 years of our lives. The seriousness of situation struck to me then and I immediately decided I wanted to do well in studies and get into civil services,” he said.
Tips
Providing some ‘tips’ apart from careful selection of subjects, and uncompromising preparation to take the exams with utmost seriousness in every attempt, Sunil Agarwal said ‘banking’ on number of attempts is a sheer waste of time if one is not serious about the goal, with every attempt.
“Keep options ready. Prepare for other exams that can match the goal in preparation. Your calibre and potential should be fully exploited by you. Waste no time having fun, because if you do that, you can pretty well be assured that it’s going make your goal hazy, with its temporary effect,” he said.
KSOU Vice Chancellor K S Rangappa, B S Vishwanath, Jayanahalli Satyanarayana of Jnana Butti and others were present on the occasion.
