Now, Mudigere MLA threatens to quit
Kumaraswamy upset with party for ‘sidelining’ him
It is now the turn of BJP MLA from Mudigere, M P Kumaraswamy, to threaten to quit the Assembly membership.
He is upset for various reasons including that he has been totally sidelined in the party. Kumaraswamy, a known aspirant for a ministerial berth and identified with the Yeddyurappa camp, on Monday walked into the Vidhana Soudha to meet Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah to submit his resignation as MLA. But the speaker was not available.
Officers were not willing to receive his resignation letter. The MLA told reporters that that he would fax his resignation, and meet the Speaker on Tuesday.
Kumaraswamy said that he was ‘terribly upset’ with the party for not coming to his ‘rescue’, despite many pleas.
He said his own party members in his constituency were harassing him and that he was being completely sidelined in the district. His move comes just a few months after former minister B Sriramalu resigned as MLA. It took weeks for the Speaker to accept his resignation.
Followers suspended
It is learnt that Kumaraswamy is upset with senior party leader Santosh G and Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi. Apparently, followers of Kumaraswamy have been unceremoniously suspended from the party, without taking his consent or bringing it to his notice. Sources said Ravi, forming a parallel power centre, had begun to unsettle Kumaraswamy. This is seen as the reason for him to take the decision to resign from the party.
