‘Kadur-Chikmagalur road work sub standard’
JD(S) leader S L Dharmegowda suspects corruption
JD(S) has complained of execution of sub standard work at Kadur-Chikmagalur road.
Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, JD(S) leader S L Dharmegowda said that the work has been conferred to a contractor who is the relative of the MLA. The 32 km road work, which has been completed, is found to be of poor quality.
“The work of Rs 22 crore has not been inspected by any senior official. It seems as though the officials are scared to point out at the shortcomings of the contractor,” said Gowda adding that gravel should have been laid on either sides of the road but here the contractor has dumped loose mud on the sides of the road.
Dharmegowda said that trees worth Rs 75 lakh have been cut unscientifically to make way for the road development work. “The MLA says that he will answer his opponents through development. It is good that MLA has such a stand but here he has not done anything to stop the day light robbery that has been going on,” he said.
Gowda said that the lake development work, which were going on under Vidharba Package at a cost of Rs 23 lakh have been abandoned. No officials have visited Kadur which was declared as a drought hit area.
Sakharayapatna and Lakya hobli are facing shortage of drinking water. “When we ask the officials to dig bore wells, they say that they can approve bore wells only if BJP leaders ask them to do so,” said Gowda.
Tiger Project
Gowda said that though they demanded the Government to drop Tiger Project, there has been no clear communication from the Government in this regard. “People are in confusion,” he said.
With regard to Mudigere MLA M P Kumaraswamy’s resignation, Gowda said that it is because of Aldur Bhagavadhwaja incident that the MLA tendered his resignation.
“The inside story is that Mudigere MLA Kumaraswamy and Chikmagalur MLA C T Ravi are at loggerheads with each other. While Ravi is the kingpin of sand mining in the district, Kumaraswamy had made several attempts to stop sand mining. Now the internal drift is out on street,” he said.
