Nigerian held with Rs 30 lakh cocaine
A 28-year-old Nigerian was arrested for drug trafficking in the Capital on Wednesday. Police have seized cocaine worth Rs 30 lakh from his possession.
The accused, Felex Chinadu, hails from Logas Onicha in Nigeria. He was arrested outside V3S Mall at Vikas Marg in east Delhi following a tip-off, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police P S Kushwah. “A case under the appropriate sections of the NDPS Act was registered against him,” said Kushwah.
Chinadu told police that he came to India in 2010 and stayed in Mumbai. Chinadu wanted to start a jewellery business from India. In 2010, he sent a consignment of earrings worth Rs1.5 lakh to Nigeria.
The consignment did not reach Nigeria on time and Felex could not get the expected profit. He took to drug peddling as his business was running into losses.
In 2011, he shifted to Delhi and met a Nigerian Tony who lured him into the business of drugs. Both of them used to supply cocaine in and around discotheques, pubs and shopping malls.
“Tony used to visit Mumbai to get the delivery of cocaine. Efforts are being made to trace him,” said Kushwah.
