Designer Kiran Uttam Ghosh launched her new line– ‘Big Beautiful Women’ that offers stylish designs for size 12s, 14s and above.
‘BBW,’ believes that a woman can be beautiful and stylish in the right ensemble to reflect her persona and taste, regardless of her body size.
Commenting on the collection, Kiran says, “While checking a report on remaining stock, I noticed only size 8s and 10s remained on the racks, it got me thinking how we in the fashion industry have been busy promoting sylph-like forms, because they show off our clothes best.
Six-feet models that fit into size eight garments make everything look beautiful. But honestly, how many size eight ensembles do I sell? Not even five per cent. And none to an age group over 30!”
This collection includes a range of designs for women who are sized 12-16. Including a bespoke section for unusual sizes, the collection aims to correct a mindset among the majority of these clients that make them buy 'safe,’ putting size before everything.
To inspire the wearer to buy clothes that have been designed specifically keeping her in mind, to be stylish, to show off her personality, to be right in your face fashionable despite her size and for the clothes to fit right.
The designer adds, “The new ‘BBW’ line ensures every woman’s desire to look beautiful without size restricting them. These designs are created keeping in mind the mainstream Indian woman to guide her on her key pieces, to draw their attention to a dress so creatively cut that it chics her up and slims her down. Clothes that she can put on and not worry about, regardless of her girth. Isn’t that what every woman is looking for?”
The line features dresses, kurtas, jackets, kaftans, saris in bright acid colours like orange/lime greens/corals along with a more mellow jewel toned range. The range is available in petite and regular sizes.
