Nitish rules out tie-up with RJD in Manipur
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday ruled out any tie-up with his arch-rival Lalu Prasad’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for the Manipur Assembly elections.
“Sawal hi nahi paida hota hai (The question does not arise),” Nitish Kumar said, while responding to a specific query that the Janata Dal-United (JD-U) was a key ally in the five-party People’s Democratic Front (PDF) formed in Manipur in which the RJD, too, was an alliance partner.
The Manipur People’s Party-led PDF has been formed to take on Congress-led Secular Progressive Front (SPF) in Imphal.
“We have nothing to do with any such front in which the RJD is a key ally,” reiterated Nitish before embarking on his Sewa Yatra.
But before leaving, he expressed his reservations over the BJP’s decision to induct Mayawati’s discards. “The BJP should have avoided inducting someone like Babu Singh Kushwaha, who is facing corruption cases…But I have been told that a serious re-thinking is going on within the saffron party over inducting tainted people,” said Nitish, while reiterating that the JD (U) would go it alone in UP.
“Our alliance with the BJP is limited only to Bihar. Elsewhere we are going to contest separately,” the JD (U) strongman cleared the air.
