Priority to tribal areas in police recruitment, says DGP
He handed over a cheque for Rs 3 lakh to Sadashiva Gowda’s kin
Director General of Police Shankar Bidri announced the recruitment of 100 people to the police force from Karkala, Sringeri and Thirthahalli with more priority to the tribal areas.
Speaking to the media persons after giving away Rs 3 lakh cheque to the family of naxal victim Sadhashiva Gowda here at the premises of Hebri police station on Thursday, Bidri said the measure is taken in order to strengthen the ANF and police force in naxal prone areas thereby making the forces more effective.
About 35 persons will be absorbed from Karkala and the major criterion for the appointment is the knowledge of aspirants over the intricacies of forest besides their age. Youth in the age group of 18 to 28 will be given fair opportunity in the recruitment process. The process will get over by March end. Giving a call to the naxal activists to shed weapons and join the mainstream of the society, Bidri said the surrender package announced by the government is sufficient to lead a dignified life and naxalites should come forward to make use of these available opportunities.
Maoists should always remember that it is highly impossible for them to infuse their ideologies successfully into the minds of people in Karnataka. The political and social set up in the state is secular to the extent that these sort of anti social concepts are not entertained.
Until universe exists, the Maoists will not be successful in proving their existence in Karnataka. It is solely because of the harmonious atmosphere that prevails in this land. Evils like atrocities and discrimination against the weaker sections are strictly not allowed besides all are treated equal irrespective of their caste and creed, he added.
Asserting that incident of Sadhashiva Gowda who had gone missing on December 19 and found dead on December 28, as unexpected growth and accidental, Bidri said the police and ANF force in the region is fully prepared to face any kind of insurgencies. The incident happened owing to lack of information in the dense forest. The fact that Sadhashiva Gowda is a police informer or no is irrelevant. All the available information points out at the fact that he was killed by naxalites.
Since two years he was not working as a police informer. He was a citizen who has sacrificed his precious life for the cause of his land. His sacrifice is invaluable and so public has lesson to learn from his death. People should always be prepared to dedicate their lives to their motherland. Public should offer their coordination to the police forces in maintaining law and order to keep society in peace, he added.
He informed people in the naxal affected areas can register their grievances including the issues not related to the police in nearby police station. The matter will be taken up by SP with respective departments in order to find solution to the problems.
He told that the issues of title deeds are concerned with respective department and it is not possible to intervene in the functioning of the department. He assured to sort out the problems of bad roads, inconveniences in the bus facilities and attack of wild animals in the area.
Bidri informed that impartial inquiry will be conducted into the death of police head constable Yogish Padakannaya. He said no one is safeguarded or are being protected in the issue. The amount of Rs 3 lakh was deposited in post office in the name of Sadhashiva Gowda’s mother Gopi.
