Trees felled in Halebeedu; greens cry hoarse
Felling of huge trees that were providing shade since decades have been axed mercilessly on Belur-Banavara road in Halebeedu paving way for road widening works on national highway.
This has received a stiff opposition from the environment lovers here. The trees that lined the road giving shade and was home for thousands of living species has been cut down for the convenience and greed of the human race.
Hundreds of monkeys that had made these trees their homes will remain only in memory in future. Chirping birds of various species and honey bees that had made hives on the huge trees will be a thing of the past.
Apart from these, the trees that were yielding jamun, mango and other fruits too have been felled. Children from the surrounding areas whose favourite past time was to pick the dropped fruits were shocked to see the trees rolled down.
The Greens who have been objecting the destruction of greenery said time and again the trees have become the victims of human greed and necessity, this would surely have an impact on the lives of the human beings and eco system.
