<p>One person was killed and three others were injured in an attack by a leopard, who had strayed into the heart of the city after straying from its habitat in the nearby hills.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Debu Kumar Das, a resident of Silpukhri area of the city, was critically injured by the animal yesterday and succumbed to his injuries at the Gauhati Medical College hospital here today, official sources said.<br /><br />The three others injured are being treated in the hospital, the sources said.<br />State zoo divisional forest officer Utpal Bora said the animal which had strayed out of its habitat from the forest in the outskirts of the city yesterday.<br /><br />On being informed the zoo personnel arrived on the spot and tranquilised the animal, which had run into a house after being chased by locals, he said.<br /><br />The animal would be freed in the forest area in a day or two, Principal Chief Conservator of Forest S Chand said.</p>
