One drowned, six missing, while bathing in river

A 11-year-old girl drowned in the Cauvery River while six rpt six, including three women, are missing,police said.
Police said nine rpt persons, comprising two families belonging to a suburb of Erode, had gone to the Vendipalayam Electricity Barrage around 3.30 pm and decided to take bath in the river.
It was stated that seven persons were washed away while the other two managed to swim to the bank and shout for help.
Some persons in the area jumped into the river and recovered the girl's body, sources said.
Search is on to trace the remaining six rpt six with Fire and Rescue Service Personnel engaged in the operations.
