4 boys drown in river

Belthangady (Dakshina Kannada district), Jan 8, DHNS:

Four boys drowned in a river near the taluk stadium here on Sunday.

The deceased have been identified as Javid (12), Jamshir (7), Syed Sasir (12) and Mohammed Afir (12), all residents of Sanjay Nagar in Belthangady.

It is said that the four boys had gone to bathe in the river and they slipped and drowned.

Family members of the deceased were inconsolable. Mohammed Sharif has lodged a complaint with the Belthangady police.
