DOG RESORT: A dog resort has come up as new getaway for the pets
You would have frequently visited spas, lodges and hospices, but ever heard of a dog resort?

Canine Elite has the means to provide all the luxuries to a furry guest which the pet owner can dream of. There is no such comfort which a pet parent can afford for his or her ‘kid’ that Canine Elite cannot supply. Spread over a three acre farmhouse in Mehrauli, Canine Elite has enough open space to let the pets run around till they run out of either time or breath. Besides the basic training and grooming services (comprising of nail clipping, bathing, ear cleaning etc., the resort offers boarding and day care facility too.
Pet boarding is convenient for those who are frequent travellers and cannot always take the pets along, while day care is a boon for pet-parents who are unable to spend time with their pets during work hours.
At boarding, the canines are provided a large personal kennel, while the felines stay in their own pretty penthouses in the cattery, all of which are temperature controlled depending on the weather conditions. Elite also takes special care of pet food, providing both home cooked as well as commercial food to guests as per their owners’ wishes.
The brain behind this five-star hotel for cats and dogs, Sonya Kochhar is most clearly a devoted animal lover. Sonya was fond of pets from her very childhood days. After completing her studies in educational psychology and hospitality from New Zealand, she returned to India dreaming of setting up a pet facility which matches international standards. She tells us, “pet care is less a business and more of a passion for me. I always loved animals and wanted to provide a caring and nurturing environment to them. It is very important that they are treated well.”
Very often, the resort organises events such as talent shows, theme parties or pool parties for glamorous pooches where they adorn no less than designer dresses custom made for them by the facility’s in-house designers. Canine Elite also offers taxi services to pick up and drop off pet-guests from anywhere in Delhi and NCR. The same pet taxi also takes them to vets in case of any treatment or surgery that the pet may require during its stay.
Christopher Daniel, who discovered the resort for his three-year-old Beagle, says, “I travel frequently and leaving your pet with a relative isn’t always convenient. I was looking for a place where I know he’ll be looked after and my vet referred me to Canine Elite. I was surprised to see how they care for pets. All the while when I was away, they would continuously send me updates on how Bruno is doing, if he’s making friends with other pooches, as well as send me his photographs. Now, whenever Bruno comes here, he just doesn’t wants to come back home.”
Sonya runs an adoption facility for stray dogs as well. She says, “dogs are said to be man’s best friend. At Canine Elite we try to be their best friends too.”
