<p>The congested stretch between Banashankari Junction and Jayadeva Hospital has become a pedestrians’ nightmare due to Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike’s (BBMP) scurry of activities.<br /><br /></p>.<p>Besides Metro Rail work, the filth removal drive of the BBMP from the drains has constricted it further.<br /><br />When the Metro Rail work was already in progress, the Palike in a hurried manner removed all the slabs from the drains and heaped the filth on the road without bothering to clear it immediately. Now, that the filth is all over on the road for the past one week, neither the Palike engineer nor the contractor has bothered to remove it.<br /><br />For the pedestrians walking on the road where heavy vehicles, including BMTC, KSRTC and private buses ply, it is an ordeal.<br /><br />One of the residents said accidents have become common on the stretch.<br /><br />Ramakanth, a resident, said the Palike workers removed the slabs and threw filth without bothering to remove it.<br /><br />Another resident, Shivarama, a senior citizen, alleged that he met with a minor accident due to the shoddy work.<br /><br />“The labourers and their contractors removed the slab, but went away without bothering to put the slab back on the drain in front of the houses. While trying to cross the drain, which was left open, I slipped and fell on the ground. Things would have been worse had I fallen into the drain,” said Shivarama.<br /><br />Worse, the damaged slabs have been used to cover the drains.</p>
