Gujarat Guv lauds Modi for kite festival

Ahmedabad, Jan 11, DHNS

Just a few months back, Chief Minister Narendra Modi had written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding for the recall of Gujarat Governor Dr Kamla over the appointment of Lokayukta; the matter still lies in the Gujarat High Court.

Modi at the kite festivalWhile officially inaugurating the International Kite Festival on Wednesday, the Governor applauded the efforts of the CM for popularising the festival.

Flagging off the festival along with Modi, the Governor said: "Kite festival has been grand and spectacular. People have applauded it, and it is the effort of the CM and his colleagues which needs to be appreciated for the kind of interest it has generated.’’

The festival which started from January 10 at the Sabarmati river front, will continue till January 15. This year, as many as 300 kite fliers including 81 from 24 countries will be participating in the festival.

In September last year, demanding for the recall of Dr Kamla, Modi had alleged that she had acted in an unconstitutional manner in appointing the Lokayukta without the aide and advice of the council of ministers of the state government.
