‘Nali Kali is a model’
As many as 4,400 primary school teachers will be recruited
Department of Public Instruction Commissioner Thushar Girinath said that Nali Kali programme is a model in the country.
Speaking at the shikshana adalath organised at Madikeri Junior College Field Marshal Cariappa Hall on Friday, he said the Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra governments are planning to extend Nali Kali programme upto seventh standard. The department of public instruction will give quality education at the high school level. There is no shortage of teachers at the primary school. As many as 4,400 primary school teachers will be recruited.
The Commissioner listened to the woes of the teachers on the occasion. The woes included promotion for teachers, on time salary, seniority, disparity in transfer, misuse of funds for the development of schools, mid-day meals, pension for the retired teachers, repair of classrooms etc.
He said that as many as 35 applications have reached the authorities, of which, 14 have been disposed on the spot. The remaining applications will be disposed at the earliest.
Primary School Teachers’ Association District President S A Yogesh said that there is a need to reduce the burden of school teachers. He also urged the Commissioner to provide special allowance to all the teachers in the district because they have to travel through hilly terrain to reach to the schools.
School Development Commitee President Chi Na Somesh said that primary, high school and degree classes are held in junior college premises. There is a need to shift the degree college from the present campus.Additional director Diwakar, Nodal officer Joseph, Deputy Commissioner Dr N V Prasad, ZP Vice-president H M Kaveri were present.
