Airport staff stage protest
Employees of the Airports Authority of India staged a protest on Friday against non-implementation of a provision that defines seniority level, which has allegedly resulted in promotions bring curbed.
The provision comes under the Airports Authority of India Act, 1994. At least 50 AAI employees protested outside Safdarjung Airport, alleging that progress in their career has been blocked for the last few years by higher authorities.
Some senior AAI employees said they have been stagnating on the same post for 16 years without any promotion, as their seniority has not been defined as per the guidelines of the Act. “Instead of getting promoted, we are now reporting to our juniors. This is derogatory because our performance has been good all these years,” said M M Gautam, general secretary, IAAI Officers' Association.
