Confident and raring to go

Nina C George

He is ambitious and has worked hard to realise his ambition. Nitin Gowda will debut in the Kannada film industry with Hosa Prema Purana but admits that he has been rejected and shunned several times. He has come face to face with failure but he chose to move on rather than get stuck and brood about the ‘could have beens’.

Nitin GowdaMetrolife chatted with the budding star to understand what got him hooked on to the Kannada film industry. Nitin confesses that as a child, he was always fascinated by his father’s movies and wanted to get into a similar line.

He always nurtured an inclination for the arts. He is a trained dancer and has performed on several stages across the country. So he’s no stranger to the stage but he was keen that he got some training before he hit the big screen. “Acting is inborn. My father has encouraged me a lot and it’s always been my dream to plunge into acting,” he avers.

He has grown up watching the movies of Rajkumar,  Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, Shankar Nag and Ravichandran. Their songs too have been a motivation for this young lad. But Nitin doesn’t want to limit his skills to a particular kind of role. He would like to experiment with the roles and explore the actor in him.  “My height is an advantage for the role of an action hero but I would like to mature as an actor rather than be known only as an action hero,” he observes.

Nitin believes that his height will always prove advantageous for him. “I think after Sudeep and Darshan, I am the tallest in the Kannada film industry. And I am also pretty confident about my dancing skills. Puneeth is my favourite star when it comes to dancing and acting,” he confesses.

In his debut film Hosa Prema Purana, he plays a software engineer who fears commitment in relationships and goes for a live-in relationship instead. “Things change when another girl from a village enters his life. That’s the twist in the tale,” he sums up.
