Puttige mutt seer Sri Sugunendratheertha Swamiji announced that he will go on hunger stir from 9 am on January 17 to 5 am on January 18 to offer prayers to Lord Sri Krishna.
Expressing his grief for the behavior of incoming Paryaya seer of Sode Vadiraj mutt for not responding to his invitation, he urged Pejawar mutt seer Sri Vieshweshatheertha Swamiji to hasten his attempts to sort out the issue amicably among the seers.
Speaking to media persons here on Sunday, Puttige seer said that Pejawar seer is not serious in his attempts in convincing the Sode seer to extend the invitation. If he takes up the issue with real interest, Pejawar seer can find solution to the problem.
“It is heard that Krishnapur mutt seer is against the idea of me attending the Paryaya Darbar. I have taken the issue seriously only when I did not get any response for my invitation from Sode seer. It is the image of Asta mutts that has been brought to the streets through unwanted controversy,” he regretted.
“During my Paryaya in 2008, Pejawar seer had taken up serious attempts including taking the issue to the floor of Courts against me. However, compared to his fight during that time, what he is doing at present absolutely shows his lack of interest in dealing with the issue. He is able to convince other seers as he is the senior most amongst us. If he thinks that all seers of Asta mutts have equal say in the administration and issues related to Krishna mutt, then he would have taken similar decision during my Paryaya instead of going totally against me”, he added.
“As I have not initiated the controversy, I will not answer the public. I have tried in all possible ways to bring unity amongst the seers of Asta mutts and I am not going for any sort of revolt against the measures of boycotting me for Paryaya Darbar. The hunger protest is taken to express my peaceful protest against the boycott by Sode seer for not extending invitation to participate in the Paryaya festival. I will take up the hunger protest before the statue of Sri Madhwacharya at Sri Anantheshwar temple,” he said.
