Building public image through posters
Assembly elections are still a year away but the city is witnessing quiet developments that are clearly laying foundation for various aspiring leaders.
Displaying of buntings, huge posters and hoardings for various occasion, in every nook and corner of the city have become a rage among various organisations and politicians. Be it festivals, jayantis, anniversaries, health check-up camps or anything, it is announced through the posters.
“It is a recent practice in the city. There has been a sudden spurt of organisations willing to do social service. They use it for New Year and Sankranti festival to the public. This is a nuisance,” said a resident here.
“None expects wishes from the politicians for any occasion. Yet, they make it a point to put up a hoarding wishing the public. Will this bring any additional joy to the people or make an impact in any way,” he sought to know.
“These buntings/posters marr the beauty of the city,” said Y K Nagabhushan, a teacher. Such practices are nothing but an exercise by the organisers/politicians to lay foundation for thier future gains, he remarked.
Besides, these days politicians are making a habit of attending marriage/house warming ceremonies of people in their localities. “They expect that such exercises give popularity to their image which would help during contesting elections,” he added.
But these are futile bids to win the people’s hearts. It is only the work and their concern towards the public which will fetch them votes and build their image, say many.
