<p>Lethargic attitude of BBMP in taking precautionary measures to avoid tragic incidents on roads has invited the wrath of the residents in and around Sampangiramanagar. <br /><br /></p>.<p>The BBMP top brass don’t seem to have learnt a lesson from the tragic incident that occurred on Saturday afternoon at Siddalingaiah Circle where a pillion rider was killed after a tree branch fell on him.<br /><br />The local police said they rushed the victim to the hospital where he was declared dead. The deceased Eeshappa, 23, a construction worker, hailed from Gulbarga. The incident occurred at Siddalingaiah Circle at the entrance of Kanteerava Stadium sports hostel on Mallya Hospital Road. The tree was within the stadium and the branch weighed nearly 20 kg. It might have fallen from a height of 15 feet. The victim’s skull was fractured, police added.<br /><br />Eeshappa was employed by Ambarish, a contractor. Both were on their way to Double Road in Shanthinagar to buy some materials. Eeshappa was staying alone after his brother, Devappa, returned to Gulbarga recently. The victim worked in a building under construction near Halasur.<br /><br />“There are several such trees on the stretch. The branches of these trees may collapse anytime in case of gusty winds. The BBMP is playing with the lives of the local residents,” Anand Gowda, an autorickshaw driver, told Deccan Herald.<br /><br />Gowda also blamed the traffic police on duty for the incident. I requested the traffic police several times to get the tree branches axed, but the pleas fell on deaf ears, he alleged.<br /></p>
