GREEN INITIATIVE
The Eco-Club in Seshadripuram Academy of Business Studies organised a rally called ‘Eco-Future’ recently to spread awareness among the public regarding energy conservation.
The event was flagged off by Dinesh Kumar D K, project engineer in KREDL (Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Limited). The purpose of the rally was to create an awareness among people about the advantages of an eco-friendly lifestyle.
More than 500 people including the members of Eco-Club (who called themselves the ‘Green Machine’), other students and staff members participated in the rally and educated the people living in Kengeri Satellite Town about the uses of solar energy consumption and preservation of the environment. A R Srinivasaiah, joint secretary of Seshadripuram Educational Trust and K L H Raya CEO, Deepa Solar Lighting Systems also took part in the rally. “Eco-Club focusses on the burning issue of environment and teaches the students to be eco-friendly to lead a healthy, safe and happy life.
The club has successfully conducted more than 15 programmes till now. One such event was honouring Salumarada Thimmakka who is well known as ‘Vrukshamathe’. Noted environmentalists like Yellappa Reddy, Akshay Heblikar and Nagesh Hegde have expressed their happiness about our environmental-related programmes,” says Chitra CN, chief co-ordinator of the Eco-Club.
The team consists of Praveen, Abhimanyu Gupta, Anil Kumar,Sumanth, Vikas, Srinivas, Suraj and Venu Gopal who strongly believe that everyone has to do their bit to build a healthy, safe, beautiful and pollution-free society. The members have also made their college proud with their unique eco-related activities in the form of quiz competitions, collage-making, skits, seminars and write-ups in magazines.
With the slogan of the club being ‘Save nature to save yourself’, Eco-Club’s earnest appeal to everyone is to become environmentally conscious.
