The number of confirmed chikungunya cases in the city in April alone, according to official reports, is now 12, and 32 samples have tested positive since January 2009.
Deputy Commissioner (Health), BBMP, K S Venkateshappa visited DJ Halli on Tuesday following protests from patients on Monday. Bangalore Mahanagara Palike has set up a special camp for distribution of medicines free of cost, he revealed.
However DPI general Secretary, V Muthy said the arrangements made by BBMP are inadequate and the situation could go out of hand. Only three people got injections while the rest had to go to private hospitals he said.
