Chetan hopeful
Four-time national champion Chetan Anand said he is hopeful of a better show in the Senior National Open badminton championships this time but added that a freak injury suffered during a work-out in the gym might hamper his chances at the premier meet.
“I had an ankle surgery last March and then I started playing competitive matches during September.
Again the injury came back to haunt me. Then I took rest in November. I was fully fit but last week I had a accident at the gym when a weight fell on my right toe and the nail has come off. It is still raw and I hope it will heal in time before my match on Saturday. I hope it will not hurt my chances here,” said Chetan, who is ranked 58 in the world.
“I am raring to go and confident that I can perform well this time.”
Chetan also said his first priority is to crack top-50 as soon as possible.
“I’ll be playing in the German League next month and my first priority is to better my world ranking,” added Chetan.
