Free flow of liquor in Punjab claims one

Chandigarh, Jan 20, 2012, DHNS:

The free flow of liquor in poll-bound Punjab has had its first fatal toll.  An activist owing allegiance to the ruling Akali Dal died after consuming excessive liquor after a rally organized by SAD candidate from Sultanpur Lodi and sitting minister Dr Upinderjit Kaur.

The deceased Hardeep Singh had joined the Akali Dal on Thursday and had also announced his support for the party.  The police does not rule out foul play and has registered a case of murder against two people.

It is also unclear whether the liquor was country made, home made or spurious. Singh’s body was found in a school premises on Friday.
