Natt’s tips for budding b’ball players
Indian basketball team coach and NBA legend Kenny Natt gave valuable tips to youngsters on the second day of the SNI’s Delhi-NCR inter-college tournament here on Sunday.
Natt taught the players fundamentals of the sport during an engaging one-hour interaction in the first-of-its-kind programme at the Thyagraj Stadium.
He shared the basics of basketball with the students including shooting, laying, conditioning, footwork and defence. He also answered queries by the students.
After the session, Natt said that he enjoyed the session and applauded the enthusiasm of the students. The young players, on the other hand, were pleasantly surprised to get valuable inputs from a basketball legend.
Shambhavi Shekhar, secretary youth wing of Sarvottam, an NGO which is organising the four-day event, said that the primary purpose of this tournament was to channelise the energy of youth into sports and give them a stimulating environment of competition as well as camaraderie.
“This will encourage them to excel in their fields and win laurels for their teams and themselves,” she said.
She also said that the Basketball Federation of India (BFI) had extended its support to the event with technical back-up.
The event will conclude with a conference on ‘Sports as a full-time career in India’ on the January 24.
