Man complains of 'missing' house after cyclone 'Thane' hit

An unusual complaint about a 'missing house' in the aftermath of the recent cyclone Thane has bewildered the Cuddalore district police.

Chandramohan, a government employee based in Puducherry in his complaint with Kadampuliyur Police, claimed his farm house built on five cents of land in Vegakollai village in Panruti taluk had "gone missing" and wanted the police to "find it."

The severe cyclonic storm Thane that crossed the Tamil Nadu coast near Cuddalore on December 30 had left a trail of destruction in the district and neighbouring union territory of Puducherry, damaging hundreds of houses and uprooting electric poles and trees besides crops.

Asked about the queer complaint, Special Sub-Inspector Dhanasekar of Kadampuliyur Police Station said "We received that complaint. We are enquiring into it. We have asked the Village
Administrative Officer (VAO) whether there was a house in the said location."

Chandramohan had also claimed that his house had been provided electricity connection and claimed to have all documents including electricity bill receipts and those relating to the land ownership.
