Indian Ocean  mesmerises Delhi audience

Rock fusion: Members of the band enthrall audience. It was an evening to remember as band Indian Ocean performed their soulful music at Sura Vie on January 19. The venue was jam-packed as the band rocked the audience with their power packed performance. While braving the biting cold, music lovers had a great chance to indulge in some headbanging as the band belted out one hit song after another.

While blending the East  and the West together, the band members floored the audience with their out of the world instrumental pieces and divine vocals like Jhini re Jhini and Kandisa. The band also introduced a new song, Bhondu from their new album 16/330 Khajoor Road. The crowd was also seen grooving to other popular numbers like Hil le Jhagjhor and Ruk Ja Re Bande.

The extraordinary performance and exquisite ambience along with a contemporary international fusion menu only added to the charm. With its warm interiors, high energy performance and great food, Sura Vie seemed like a perfect cure for Delhi’s wintery evenings.

On this occasion, owner and chef Sanjeev Kapoor said, “It’s wonderful to have Indian Ocean perform here. Live performances are very glamorous yet exciting. Our goal is to strike a perfect balance between good food, music and ambience and showcase the best contemporary acts in the Indian music scene along with the best of Indian and International cuisine.”

He also added, “There are many more events to come that will enthrall the people of Delhi that they would surely love.”

Sura Vie, inspired by the words for music (sur), an alcoholic beverage from 4 B C India (sura) and life (vie in French). The lounge boasts of an independent DJ booth and a live performance stage with performances that include some of the most exciting names in the Indian contemporary music scene. Open seven days a week, Sura Vie has a menu hand crafted by Sanjeev that showcases the best of international cuisine and fusion food.

Indian Ocean’s new album is named after the space they have been rehearsing at since May 1997. 16/330 Khajoor Road is the address of this picturesque 100-year old bungalow in Delhi's crowded Karol Bagh area. The band was offered this house by their friends, who were living there at that time. Interestingly, 16/330 Khajoor Road is also the first Indian album to be given away completely free as mp3 downloads from the band’s website.
