Former MLAs, HC judges to get cashless health facility

New Delhi, January 23 2012, DHNS:

The Delhi Cabinet has decided to liberalise the Delhi Government Employees Health Scheme (DGEHS) for former MLAs, former metropolitan councillors, retired judges of High Court, IAS officers and DANICS (Delhi, Andaman Nicobar Island Civil Services) officers. The decision was taken in a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Monday.

“In order to make the DGEHS scheme more realistic and extend benefits under different circumstances, the Cabinet has decided to modify the scheme further to allow dependent family members of the ministers of the government of Delhi and sitting as well as ex-MLAs treatment on cashless basis in the empanelled private hospitals/diagnostic centres,” said Dikshit.

The Cabinet has also decided to treat former metropolitan councillors of Delhi and their dependent family members at par as ex-MLAs in respect of the scheme.

Further, all sitting as well as retired judges of High Court will be allowed treatment for self and dependent family members in empanelled private hospitals/diagnostic centres.

“The Cabinet has also decided to extend the facility of direct treatment for self and their family members and family members of all retired heads of the departments/heads of the autonomous bodies under the government from private recognised hospitals as during service of these officers,” she said.

Dikshit further stated that the IAS officers and DANIC officers posted out of Delhi would be allowed to avail the facilities of DGEHS in respect of self and their family members who continue to stay in Delhi. “In the event of retirement of such officers they will be treated as pensioners. It has also been decided that cashless facility to such families may be provided during the period the officer is posted outside Delhi,” said Dikshit.

* Former metropolitan councillors, IAS officers will get the benefit

* DANICS officers posted out of Delhi to continue under the scheme in respect of their family members who continue to stay in Delhi
