Exhibition
Weaves’, the cotton and silk spectrum exhibition, is being held at Siddharth Hall, Hotel Lalit Ashok, Kumara Krupa High Grounds till January 29, 11 am to 9 pm.
It is an event organised to promote the weavers and ethnic varieties from every handloom weaving state in India.
On display are an array of handloom silk and cotton saris, dress materials, kurtas, kurtis, stoles, dupattas, home furnishings and also an exquisite collection of designer wear in Indian handloom. Handlooms from almost every state like the kalamkari, gadwal, uppada, dharmavaram, pochampally, venkatgiri and mangalgiri of Andhra Pradesh are also there. Apart from that there are tussars of Bihar, kosa of Chhattisgarh, bandhini, Kutch embroidery, patolas of Gujarat, kashida-embroidered sarees, shawls and dresses of Jammu and Kashmir, printed silks and Mysore silk saris of Karnataka,
chanderi and maheshwari of Madhya Pradesh.
You can also pick from the sanganeri, bandhej, dabu and kotas of Rajasthan, Banaras silks, brocades, jamdani and jamawar from Uttar Pradesh, kantha from West Bengal and kanjeevaram and Chettinad and Coimbatore silks from Tamil Nadu.
It also has a unique collection of textiles to cater to the aesthetics of every age group.
So be it a college-goer or a working woman, it has something for everyone and for every occasion.
