K M Cariappa’s b’day celebration on January 28
Four achievers to be feted
Kannada and Culture department in association with Karnataka Kodava Sahithya Academy and Field Marshal K M Cariappa Forum will organise 113th birth anniversary of Field Marshal K M Cariappa, on January 28.
Four achievers from Kodagu will be felicitated on the occasion, said Forum President Col Kandrathanda C Subbaiah. Field Marshal K M Cariappa College retired principal Pushpa Kuttanna, K C Ramamurthy, C M Pemmaiah and Dr Mukkateera M Changappa will be felicitated with golden medal on the occasion. As K C Ramamurthy and Dr Mukkateera have passed away, their family members will receive the honour.
March past competition will be held by the students on January 27 at 8 am. On January 28, there will be final round of march past competition. There will be national anthem singing competition. As many as 16 teams will take part. Lt General Adithya Kumar Singh will be arriving Madikeri on January 27.
The Karnataka Kodava Sahithya Academy will distribute literature the life and achievement of Cariappa and release sticker of Cariappa on the occasion.
Forum Vice-President Machimada Ravindra said that Field Marshal K M Cariappa and General K S Thimmaiah’s statue will be erected in Gonikoppa by the end of this year. Gram Panchayat has already agreed to hand over the land.
