Ramdas’ call to join hands to make Mysore no 1
200 heritage buildings recognised in the city will be developed
Keeping aside the differences between political parties we work for, let us join hands to get our 104 years of historical city Mysore to place one in all aspects, said medical education minister and district in-charge S A Ramdas, after hoisting the tri-colour at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, here on Thursday.
Addressing the gathering at the 63rd Republic Day celebration in the city, Ramdas said, with the 200 heritage buildings recognised in the city, residences of Sir M Visvesvaraya and R K Narayan will soon be turned into museums. Suggestions will be invited from the public very soon regarding the comprehensive development plan 2030 to make Mysore a ‘mahanagara’.
Mini Vidhana Soudha at Mysore is all set for the inaugural this year. K R hospital is to be rejuvenated with a project of Rs 35 crore. It will be seen that the development programmes do not hamper the city’s heritage beauty, he added.
Two thousand houses among 45 thousand for the slum dwellers have been given already. The needy are looked upon that they are benefitted with one or the other schemes. Education problems and child marriage systems are being overcome by relevant projects. Mysore has 99 HIV infected kids among whom 56 have received support from a few of the Mysore leaders. But the remaining 43 are in need of help to which Mysoreans must heed. It’s not the medication but the moral and social support, respect, protection, love and care these children are really in need of, he said.
India is the largest democratic country with all the dignity and pride heading towards first place in technology. Indian family customs are been recognised worldwide now. But the corruption, casteism and HIV positive are the problems hindering the progress of the country against which we have to fight responsibly. India has been termed as ‘temple of communicable diseases’ by WHO, a matter of concern for us. India’s future is in the hands of the children and its their responsibility to mull over it, he added.
Awareness walk
NCC cadets took out an awareness walk as part of the national voters day to create awareness among women and youth voters.
Mothers of three Army martyrs, who lost their lives for the nation’s cause were honoured. Students of tenth standard who have scored highest in the previous examination were felicitated. Prizes were given away to the winners of Chamundi Hill climbing competition held on Wednesday.
An exhibition on the awareness of HIV/AIDS was held in the Chamundi Vihar indoor stadium as part of the 63rd Republic day celebration.
