Sub-quota for Muslims opposed
The BJP on Friday voiced its strong opposition to the sub-quota for Muslims from within the OBC reservation and made an attempt to please every section of society by promising sops to all while reiterating its commitment to build Ram Temple at Ayodhya.
In its election manifesto released here on Friday, the saffron party promised a cow for every family living below the poverty line and a complete ban on cow slaughter besides assuring concessions for the farmers. It also reiterated its commitment to construct Ram Temple.
Releasing the manifesto, senior party leaders like state president Surya Pratap Shahi, Uma Bharti and Sudheendra Kulkarni, announced to establish commission for the welfare of financially weaker section from the upper caste in a bid to bring back its old vote bank. In an attempt to woo the farmers, the party said it would provide loans to them at 1 per cent interest and also announced to set up a commission for their welfare.
The party also tried to score over the BSP by announcing that it would hike the cane support price to Rs 300 per quintal, besides promising pension to small and marginal farmers, weavers and others who are above 65 years of age.
In a bid to encash the religious sentiment, the saffron party said it would provide a cow for every family living below the poverty line and ban cow slaughter.
The BJP promised Tablets and laptops to high school and intermediate students respectively though they would be charged nominally, while the poor students would get the gadget free of cost. The party would make the office of Lokayukta more powerful by giving it the authority to investigate against the chief minister, the manifesto said.
