‘Education has always been a priority’
Gandhinagar was abuzz with Amoolya quitting the film industry altogether but her brother Deepak, who directed the actress in her last project, Manasology, says one can never be too sure in this industry.
Talking to Metrolife, Deepak reveals that the family wants Amoolya to take some time off and concentrate on her studies. “It was sad, the kind of controversies that she was being dragged into. A mature person can handle it but she is still too young to take all of this. Moreover, education has always been a priority for us and Amoolya. We wanted her to complete her BA and then think about her future,” he says.
So will she be avoiding projects for the next three years? “As of now, she is not interested in taking up anything new. Plus her college has told all of us that she has to maintain a certain level of attendance so it won’t be possible for her to take time off for a film. But if a really good project does come along, then the family will take a call collectively,” he says.
“It’s her decision finally. She has time and age on her hands and can afford to take a break and enjoy a normal life for sometime.”
After Manasology, Deepak has started working on an action-packed film which is tentatively titled Jawara Alias Jaware Gowda. “The film is based on an incident that had occurred abroad and I am just adapting it to suit Karnataka’s nativity. The script work is still in progress and I will start approaching the actors after January. Hopefully by May, we should kickstart the project,” says Deepak, who will be directing an action film for the first time.
The reason he took up this commercial potboiler was because he wanted to explore a new genre.
“I have done romantic and family drama and felt it would be a good contrast to try an action film,” he adds.
