Students protest over delay in construction of compound wall

Kolar, January 27 2012, DHNS:

Students of the Government Boys First Grade College in the city staged a protest on Friday, condemning delay in construction of a compound wall to their college.

It has been three months since the existing compound was demolished to replace with the new one. But the authorities concerned have not initiated any work here, they complained.

As a result, the school premises has reduced to be an open toilet for many outsiders and the  students have to attend classes in such a pathetic environs, the protesters said.

Besides, uncleared heap of soil in the school has narrowed the space to move around.

Power facility to the school has been suspended and this has affected laboratory classes, they complained.

Despite writing letter to the authorities concerned, nothing has been done to expedite work on building a new compound, the protesters observed.
Later, the students withdrew the protest after Executive Engineer Venkatachala promised immediate action.
