Girl survives fall off metro platform, lands on car
In a mysterious case, a 20-year-old girl was injured after she fell from from one of the platforms at Kanhaiya Nagar metro station on to the road on Friday. The metro station is on the Dilshad Garden-Rithala line.
Goldie Kumari who landed on a stationary car below the metro station at around 2 pm, survived the fall and is recuperating at Babu Jagjivan Ram Hospital. It is not clear whether she tried to commit suicide or if it was an accident.
The girl was rushed to a hospital by the driver of the car on which she landed, with the help of the police. Victim’s father Bhola Thakur told Deccan Herald that she was out of danger, but refused to comments on the reason for Goldie’s fall.
The Delhi Police contends that the girl fell on her own. She tried to save herself by trying to latch on to one of the grills of the railing. But the Metro management says it is impossible for an individual to fall from the railings enclosing the platforms unless somebody tries to scale it. “The girl says she doesn't know how she fell. The CCTV footage also shows that she tried her best to hold on to a grill as she was falling,” said Raj Rani Sharma, Rithala SHO, Delhi Metro Police.
However, Metro management rubbished the police version. “The railings on the platforms of all the stations are too high for an individual to trip over them. Nobody leaning could fall on them unless the individual tries to scale them,” a Metro spokesperson said.
