Vastanvi takes a dig at Modi

In a subtle dig at Chief minister Narendra Modi, Ghulam Mohammad Vastanvi, the former vice-chancellor of Darul-Uloom, on Friday said the state’s electorate  would give an apt reply to those who organise Sadbhavna Yatras for political gains.

Vastanvi was forced to demit office earlier for his pro-Modi stance.
Attending a book release programme in the city, Vastanvi said that if those doing Sadhbhavna are doing so with an ulterior motive will have to pay a price.

“Ask those who are carrying out the missions if it is good. If you are asking me what is the end result of it, I can just tell you that if the motive behind the event is sinister and political the people will give a reply in the polls,” the former vice-chancellor said.

He also ruled out the possibility of pitching for the post of the vice-chancellor again. “I have had a good stint and I do not aspire to vouch for the post again,'' he said.

Commenting on the controversy over controversial author Salman Rushdie’s participation in the recently concluded Jaipur Literature Festival, Vastanvi said the government in the first place should not have given the visa to him.

“He has hurt the feelings of the minority community he cannot be allowed to come to India at all,’’ said Vantanvi.
