RSS running govt, alleges Motamma

Bangalore, Jan 28,2012,DHNS:

Leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Council Motamma on Saturday alleged that Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has not been able to deliver good administration because the government was run by the RSS.

Addressing reporters, the Congress MLC said that Gowda did not get support from his ministerial colleagues and the officers who owe allegiance to former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa.

She said the Centre has released sufficient funds to mitigate drought and for other development works, but the development works have come to a standstill and funds were not being utilized, she said.

Motamma said that it is better for the Government to dissolve the Legislative Assembly to seek fresh mandate.

On power shortage she said the state instead of stepping up power production, has resorted to procuring power.

Asked why the opposition was silent when the State was deprived of power allocated through the central grid and even when the Centre has held back thermal power projects by refusing coal allocation, Motamma said that the Congress  is ready to help by discussing with the UPA chairperson and the Prime Minister, but the State has not taken any delegation as announced earlier.

BKC’s demand

At a separate press conference, Congress leader and former chairperson of the Council B K Chandrashekar demanded the resignation of Assembly Speaker K G Bopaiah.

He said that as the Supreme Court has passed severe strictures against Bopaiah stating that he acted in favour of the ruling party and disqualified five independent MLAs, he should quit the office. “People in power should not continue in their office if courts pass strictures against them. It is an insult to democracy,” he said.
