Probe sought against BEML chief
The High Court of Karnataka has ordered notice to the Union government in a petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe against the Chairman and Managing Director of Bharat Earth Movers Limited.
According to the petition filed by K Subramanyam Sastry, who claims himself as a shareholder of BEML, the CMD of the public sector unit, VRS Natarajan indulged in exporting iron ore worth Rs 118 crore without supporting documents.
The illegal export, the petitioner submitted, was “personally said to be monitored by the BEML CMD through the BEML Trading Division.” The petitioner also alleged that huge amount of commissions were received which was diverted to a non-functioning company, Champion Textiles Limited.
