Acharya ‘has chest pain’, hospitalised

Hyderabad, Jan 31, 2012, DHNS:

 Even as the AP government is mulling the idea of suspending senior IAS officer BP Acahrya currently under CBI custody for his alleged involvement in the Emaar scam, Acharya was rushed to Nizams Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) on Tuesday evening as he complained chest pain and breathlessness.

   He was taken to CGHS hospital in the morning for a customary medical test. However, the CBI took him to superspeciality NIMS after he complained chest pain and sweating The sources in hospital say that the home secretary is in Cardiac Intensive Care Unit under the watchful eye of senior cardiologist Dr Seshagiri Rao.

Meanwhile, CBI Joint Director VV Lakshmi Narayana met  Chief Secretary Pankaj Dwivedi at the state secretariat for 45 minutes on Tuesday. The meeting is considered important as any government employee could be suspended after 48 hours in detention.

No third degree

Speaking to reporters at the secretariat, Lakshminarayana denied that the CBI is resorting to third degree methods to extract information from the accused.
