Google, on Wednesday, introduced women entrepreneurship initiative, through which it hopes to touch 10,000 women in the country within two years.

Women entrepreneurs across the country signing up to the programme — Women Entrepreneurs On the Web (WEOW) — will be provided a registered domain name, three email IDs and access to Google’s collaboration suite including google docs, spreadsheet etc.

Google Global Diversity & Inclusive Initiatives Head Yolanda Mangolini said in addition, they will be provided free training on how to leverage the internet, advertise and connect with the clients
The programme is a 5-circle approach designed specially to help women entrepreneurs with varied degrees of online presence and expertise. Starting with building an online presence, it moves towards effective collaboration, connecting with customers, promoting organisations and to tracking and optimizing online presence.

WOEW is aimed at bridging the divide between rural and urban women and providing a platform for them to exchange best practices and ideas. Google would showcase successful women entrepreneurs emerging from the programme in order to motivate many more women to leverage the power of internet.
