Make unauthorised colonies report public, says Oppn leader
Leader of the opposition in Delhi Assembly Vijay Kumar Malhotra has asked the Lokayukta to make public a report submitted to him by a senior government official regarding regularisation of unauthorised colonies.
In a letter to the Lokayukta, Malhotra said the report will affect lakhs of residents living in such colonies.
He said if the report was not made public, people will get caught in the real estate nexus, which has engulfed the issue of regularisation.
“I told the Lokayukta in a letter that making the report public immediately is important,” said Malhotra.
According to him, the promise made by AICC chief Sonia Gandhi to regularise 1,639 colonies at the behest of chief minister Sheila Dixit through provisional certificates, has been found untenable not only by DDA, but also the ASI and the forest department.
This has seriously compromised the government’s and Dikshit’s credibility, the letter stated.
The Lokayukta has taken a suo motu cognisance of the matter and sought an explanation from the government.
“There are three colonies in the city that have no houses but have been shown on paper to have residents and these colonies have got the provisional certificates.
Thanks to the Lokayukta’s stringent reprisal in the matter, the divisional commissioner has not only disqualified these three colonies but also submitted a report that outlines in detail the kind of fraudulent certification practices that have taken place at other colonies as well,” said Malhotra.
He said the divisional commissioner is under pressure from the state government to withdraw the report. The Lokayukta, fortunately, has refused to let the report be withdrawn, he said.
