Government will examine verdict on 2G: Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi, Feb 2, 2012, (IANS)

The government will examine the Supreme Court's verdict on cancellation of licences to telecom firms during the tenure of former communications minister A. Raja and will take appropriate action accordingly, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee said Thursday.

“You know the Supreme Court judgment has come. We have to examine the judgment and its implications. The government will examine it,” Mukherjee told reporters while reacting to  the apex court verdict here.

The Supreme Court Thursday cancelled all 122 licences granted to telecom firms after 2008.

However, the apex court has given four months to the telecom regulator to look into the matter and make recommendations for the fresh auction.
